Day 4 - Gospel of John Journey

Worship that Comes from the Heart

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” - John 4:23-24 (NIV)

In John 4, Jesus speaks to the Samaritan woman at the well—a conversation that breaks cultural barriers and reveals deep spiritual truths. She asks about the proper place of worship, whether on Mount Gerizim or in Jerusalem. Jesus responds with a radical shift: worship is no longer tied to a location, ritual, or tradition. True worship flows from the heart, empowered by the Spirit, and anchored in truth.

• Worship in Spirit means our praise is not mechanical or ritualistic, but alive, sincere, and guided by the Holy Spirit. It is worship that springs from a transformed heart.

• Worship in Truth means aligning our worship with God’s Word and the revelation of Jesus Christ. It is not based on feelings or human traditions, but on the reality of who God is.

God is not seeking performance; He is seeking relationship. He desires worshipers who bring Him their whole selves—heart, mind, and soul—offering authentic devotion rather than empty ritual.

Today, pause and ask yourself: Is my worship routine, or is it Spirit-led?

Let Scripture shape your prayers and songs. Let love shape your actions. Worship is not confined to Sunday—it’s expressed in kindness, obedience, and joy throughout the week.

Memory Verse

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” - John 4:23-24 (NIV)

Prayer

Father, thank You for inviting me into true worship. Teach me to honor You not just with words, but with a heart surrendered to Your Spirit and a life grounded in Your truth. May my worship be pleasing to You today and always. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
